People’s Association Youth Movement for the Emergenetics Impact SG50 Initiative
Through the workshop that Lionel and Kaiyang conducted, the leaders of the various YECs gained a better appreciation of their own preferences. With this knowledge and through the intra-YEC sharing session, leaders used Emergenetics as a language to share about their working style, and how co-leaders could best support them to work together to achieve the goal of their respective organisations.
In addition, the participants were exposed to the concept of WEBoarding and were guided to apply this knowledge towards various aspects of leading their YECs. For instance, participants learnt how to use this framework to re-evaluate the goals that they had set for the upcoming term, to ensure that goals appealed to all preferences and not just focused on their personal preferences. By applying this concept, participants were better positioned to engage volunteers of all preferences. We also shared about how WEBoarding could be used to improve on the design of publicity material by showing them examples from another YEC.
Lastly, the participants were introduced to other Emergenetics products such as the Combined Group Report, WETeam Report, Dot Graph and Emergenetics+. Through these tools, the YEC leaders are able to take a science-based approach to assembling WETeams and improving team dynamics through clear communication. By helping volunteers understand their preferences, they can be coached towards working more productively in teams.

“Emergenetics allowed me to be more aware of the way I think and behave. The workshop was great in enabling me to be more aware of the different preferences people have, as well as how to tap on this diversity. I wished that the workshop was longer and I really appreciate the after class support with the smartphone app(Emergenetics+) and the wonderful trainers – Lionel and Kaiyang.”
– Liu Yixin, Chairman of Yuhua YEC
